I love doing punny food because it reminds me of home. I hear it all the time when people see punny food, ‘it’s such Pinoy humor.’ Newsfeeds can become toxic, and I just wanted to make people laugh for a moment, and remind us of what binds us together as Pinoys: humor, music and food.
Oh, how we love food! As a Filipino, having merienda is part of growing up. Snacking is inherent in our culture – whether it’s street food on your school break or an afternoon break at home after playing outside. More often than not, you’d hear Jeepneys blaring out ballads that everyone would know and sometimes sing along to.
So, merienda + love songs + puns created the perfect formula for this set.
